ER Scare

I was sick with stomach flu the day of Brandon's birthday. Jimmy got sick the same week on Friday. He has been sick through Sunday as well and when I was at work on Sunday, I got a call from Jimmy's Mom saying he was in ER and would like me to come asap.

I rushed out (thanks to the staff who were ready to help out with closing side work) and when I got to ER, I realized I have never seen Jimmy so, so sick in all 9 years. Even when it was out church wedding day and he was in ER because he could not hold any fluids and I dragged him to ER where he was given 3 (!) hydration bags. He was in such bad shape.

This time he just looked so.. sick. I felt very bad for him. He could barely talk. They took x-rays of his chest because he complained for the pain right in the middle of high point of his ribs and they did blood work. When he came to ER, his stomach pain was 8 on scale 1-10 and with medicine they gave him it lowed down to 3. Thank goodness!

His x-ray came back clear and blood work alowed them to do CT Scan. (If his kidneys were in bad shape, they would not be able to because of the dye they give you be able to see on CT Scan). They took him and brought him back in literally 5 minutes for it.

We both kept napping till Dr came back with results. Jimmy was surprised. It turned out to be diverticulitis, which he had a year ago and took FML with it. Only last year he had it in a different place, so pain was different. They gave him more medicine for nausea and pain (Vicodin, ouch!). Jimmy thought he could drive but in fact, he could not. He did not realize it until he got up. I got his mom, who got his car and drove home after 1am.

Our nurse was pure disappointment though. She did not know much of what was going on and then mixed his diagnosis with diverticolosis. Really? Was also annoyed when I asked her questions. She just was not good.

We came home at 2.30 and were out cold.. Jimmy had two days to be home and I had 1.5hrs till I had to get up to go to NYC.
We were just glad they figured out exactly what was wrong. Phew!
