Art of Negotiation

Oh, that was not easy. Brandon came home from school saying his class earned a reward of watching a movie and he asked Mrs. Weimer if he could bring Charlotte's Web. Kyra threw a fit because, apparently as Brandon forgot, Kyra got it in her stocking for Christmas. Both of them were not particular screaming but they were both throwing fits about "I want to take it"  and "I won't let you".

First, I sent both of them upstairs to calm down. After that when they were able to think straight, I sat them at the table and explained how many times in their lives they would want others to do something and how important it is to start learning concept "what is in there for another person".

Brandon understood that it was in his interest Kyra let him take it. Whatever he offered to her, she did not want. He asked a great question "What would you like in return?" Kyra said she wanted two of his medium size Mr. Puffy Fluffies  (one orange and one purple) for a week. Brandon said for a day and only one Mr. Fluffy Puffy and only orange. We had to stop here and take a break. I still could see shining lining.

In the end, after 3rd round of negotiations with my help they reached the agreement, which I should, probably, rephrase, Brandon got to take dvd to school and Kyra got to keep both toys for a day. Here she is happily snugged with one of Mr. Puffy Fluffy.

Negotiations are not easy matter. Although I have to admit with my assistance they both did a pretty darn good job coming to a happy medium!
